Which is the more selfish action?
To abandon my job and leave my kids to a series of substitutes OR
to stay in my job, but become embittered to the point of apathy?
I'm very unlikely to quit (the job openings in my required salary range are relatively slim). However, given the attitude of the other first grade teachers (and my rapidly decreasing patience), the second option seems almost inevitable. What would you do?

just stay there- remember how you worked extremely hard to get where you are? You're job is rough- really rough- and becoming embittered isn't that odd in light of what you see, do, etc. That doesn't mean, however, that there isn't room for recovery or change in (even the near) the future. Sorry you're having such a hard time.
