Unlike baseball, there is crying in basketball
Take that best players in college basketball! First you lose, then to rub salt in your fresh wounds, we get to see you cry (much thanks goes to the CBS cameramen who got as close as possible so you could distinguish the sweat from the tears). How demoralizing -- the only thing more embarrassing would have been if someone pantsed them after they cried.
Seriously though, my heart goes out to Adam Morrison -- what a devastating loss. Despite my general policy of disliking people who resemble pedophiles and/or Billy Crudup, I liked him and I felt so awful for him when he collapsed on the court and sobbed. And as for JJ Redick I also feel sorry for him (yes that was painful for me to admit). However, given the fact he played a s****y game, I don't feel as super sorry for him. Besides, this sort of pain is perfect inspiration for a cathartic poem to add to his already stellar collection. Morrison's creative outlet--his sweet 'stache--will be a far less productive avenue to unload all this grief.

First of all, you deserve a 1,000 props for the League of their Own reference. Secondly, did you ever consider that Redick and Morrison may have been brought to tears not only because they lost, but because deep down inside they know they'll never be better than a 6th man in the NBA and thus their glory days are officially over?
Yes, in fact, I think that is exactly why Redick was crying. Because as everybody knows, even the most amazing Duke collegiate athlete is just a good-but-always-hurt OR a not-that-great player in the NBA. And so that means that after 4 years of every one talking him up, Redick has only years of NBA mediocrity in front of him (and no NCAA championship). I'm not going to front like I know anything about Morrison beyond the past two weeks of tournament play so I'll just take your word for it that his glory days are over (assuming he goes pro...).
Lots of people are saying that Redick might be even BETTER than Morrison in the NBA because there aren't any 6'8" white guys like Morrison in the NBA who are any good, whereas there are lots of white guys who can shoot in the NBA who are pretty good (Bob Sura, Brent Barry, John Barry, Steve Blake...the list goes on and on). So they're pretty much in the same boat.
